oh that's because they mean you have to be yourself except when being yourself means being an inconvenience, or being out of the norm in a way people don't like... you are meant to be yourself only when being yourself accommodates to what everybody else wants :v which yeah... it's easier if you are in the fat side of the Gauss bell x'D

“Just be your self” but I was completely unmasked. I would probably act like Sheldon in Young Sheldon. And everyone asks when he’s gonna die and says he’s ungrateful and a weirdo and he should just be abandoned.

its so confusing, do they want you to pretend you didnt see them? wouldnt they want to know so they can fix it and not bother more people?

Basically, you just told them you don't go to a certain place, because you hate cockroaches amd there is a lot of them there. Then proceeded to tell them there are also cockroaches at their place. They connect the dots, and in their mind, you hate their place and judge them for having cockroaches, and intentionally want to hurt their feelings by throwing it in their face. They read between the lines even when there is no between the lines. I know this, because I've been studying social behaviours most of my life and also tend to walk into this trap. Help, I'm exhausted 🥲

Ppl would rather you lie to be polite than tell the truth, but sometimes its hard to tell when the correct times to lie are, especially since they asked you such a direct question

you telling the truth embarrassed them.....if they didn't want to be embarrassed they shouldn't have said anything

Also withholding the truth feels dishonest. This happens to me when people complain about a situation and I give them the answer and then they didn’t want to hear the answer

it’s so frustrating when people ask a question then get annoyed when you answer them honestly….like don’t ask the question then

People get so offended by being corrected 😭 Like we can say it nicely, yes, but why do they have to get so hurt by being wrong? We’re all learning here

Yes, this! Also when participating in discussions like therapist sessions or similar and they’re like “don’t prepare anything, just speak from your heart. That’s always the best” Like no. No, you don’t want me to speak whatever’s on my mind at that point. Could be exactly whatever

Telling an autistic person to just be themselves can actually be quite dangerous. If we tick off the wrong people, they may respond with ab*se

I still don’t think you did anything wrong. If there are cockroaches there, that’s something they should know about. Maybe they have a chance to do something about it now

I asked the question ‘in the World Cup why do some Americans call the Scotland team Scotland but calls the England team British’, I was genuinely interested in the answer, was it historical, was it because they see Britain as being England & vice versa etc. I got so many really really angry comments telling me to check my passport, I’m British whether I want to be or not, to not be a sore loser because the US beat the British in the war & loads more. I was like that doesn’t have anything to do with my question about World Cup teams, why is everyone so mad at me
