The biggest rewards often come from consistent effort over time, not heroic but brief amounts of discipline: - Getting fit - Learning an instrument - Learning a language - Building your career - Building solid relationships with friends and family Etc I say this because discipline is emphasized a LOT in fitness. Understandably so. It's important to be able to do things even when we don't feel like it. However, I feel like the actual type of discipline required for fitness is sometimes misunderstood. Movies and TV make us feel like it SHOULD be an extraordinary amount of self-control, ideally happening over a montage. I don't really feel that, I guess. The discipline just comes from consistent effort to tweak our system over time. Most people who are fit usually don't have trouble staying fit. Their system is usually very dialed in that it's normal. (note this is different than, say, maintaining very low body fat). You can build a system like this for yourself. It's like installing it into your routine. Small things that add up like: - Finding the best time to work out for you - Finding the minimal workout you can do on busy days - Getting an actual routine you like (this sometimes takes a while) - Understanding your nutrition needs - Understanding better sleep All of these together might seem overwhelming to some. But you don't need to change it all at once - just find one you think you can change and try one at a time. Just some thoughts. I don't consider myself that extraordinary, but I try to share what works for me. Have a wonderful day! #hybridcalisthenics
