I think any mum of any age can have a registry for well wishes as a 1st time mum....however I think anyone putting big ticket items on there costing thousands and genuinely expecting friends to get them is a little rude

I didn't think I'd agree with her, but I actually do. if you've waited this long you probably in a decent position esp having a 3k item. I think it's rude. buy all the things yourself and let your friends put on an amazing baby shower for you

I think a lot of times people put things on a registry they don't expect to be bought, but most stores whatever is left on your list after your event you get a discount on if you buy it.

Why don’t they have gift vouchers for the store on the registry. Don’t buy the $3k pram but if people want to put in a $200 gift card, 10 ppl x $200 = $2000 in gift cards…..

Ok but certain registries you get a discount if you purchase it yourself. Also if you have a preferred item and you put it on there it might signal to people not to buy a different version of that item and just leave it unpurchased

I think of a registry is almost like a reminder of what I need to buy as well as to help other people pick gifts. I want. I’m not expecting everything off the registry to be bought something. Things are just there to remind me to buy them.

Gift registries for having a baby or getting married is beyond - why should anyone buy you a gift for doing these life things?? I did not have a baby shower at all - hate the whole premise of them.

Registries are just straight up rude in this country. If you know the couple/parent/s to be then you will know what they need or want. Leave the registries to the yanks.
