@drzackmd: A non-physician just told a cancer patient “you don’t actually have cancer, just trust me” after a physician diagnosed them. I need to be blunt: if you follow that advice, you could die. Cancer diagnosis requires pathology. It requires imaging. It requires a physician who spent years training to interpret those findings. A non-physician saying “trust me” instead of “go get a second opinion from another oncologist” is not being helpful, they’re being dangerous. If you’re diagnosed with cancer and you doubt it, get a second opinion from another physician. Get imaging reviewed at another facility. But do not take medical advice about cancer from someone whose job doesn’t require a medical license. This isn’t about ego.
