I used the 0.5 inch, it was like $18. It didn’t have the lines and was super easy to paint over 😊

I use foam board backdrops a lot and the key to getting the lines out is using a lot of paint. Maybe add a decent amount mainly to the lines on your second coat. You just have to kinda fill the lines in with the paint

You only need the 1/2 inch without the lines and always paint the side without the writing

Most foam boards have a thin plastic over the board that you peel off before painting. That may be where the lines are coming from. Also, to help with a smoother surface, prime the board first before painting.

It always has a plastic film on it that you have to take off not sure if you did that or not just so you know
