Helaena was also fat due to pregnancies but it’s ok in TG’s minds because she was a teenage girl even though Rhaenyra was also a teenage girl when she first got pregnant and she wasn’t given the chance to recover. Jace and Luke were Irish twins. Regardless of how you feel about the boys’ legitimacy status, Rhaenyra was under severe pressure to have multiple children as quickly as possible. She and Laenor realistically needed 4 kids because they needed one heir each for Corlys & Viserys and those 2 heirs needed one spare each in case something happened to one or both of them. The biggest age gap between her kids is only 3-ish years. I had my youngest two that far apart and despite having the same diet and lifestyle I did between Kid 1 and Kid 2 my body did not bounce back as easily as it did between Kid 2 and Kid 3.

What kills me, is the fact that this is the HEIGHT of targaryen power. Viserys and Aegon are described as plump. In real history to be larger is a sign if social status, so why wouldn’t a rich royal family engorge on expensive foods? Ofc they would be fat.

It makes me laugh. No one said she’s fat. She was heavier set bc that was the standard. It meant you had wealth and power. They just try to find ANYTHING to bring a powerful woman down 🙄
