I get that you only started watching football this year with the World Cup in America, but the Argentine national team (there’s a video taken on the bus) in 2018 where they were singing a song to mock the French origins of the black players on the French team… Go rewatch the Netherlands vs Argentina match from 2022 — the Argentines’ attitude was horrible throughout the whole game. And it goes back to many other episodes as well. There’s also the historic Real Madrid vs Barça rivalry involving Messi and Ronaldo. It’s a whole cocktail of many things and events, which is why it can seem very abrupt when you discover it all at once.
