@steven: Why do countries like Niger, Gambia and Nepal have some of the lowest cancer rates in the world, while high-income countries like Australia, the US and New Zealand have some of the highest? Leading Cancer Scientist, Dr Thomas Seyfried says it comes down to how far removed we've become from the way our bodies evolved to live. Processed carbohydrates, inactivity, chronic stress and poor sleep are chronically damaging the mitochondria in our cells, and he believes that damage is a root driver of cancer. Populations still living closer to traditional ways of life, he says, show lower cancer rates in comparison. *The views expressed are those of the guest and this conversation is intended for general informational purposes only. Gemma L528 :
Could it also be because our health services are able to diagnose more cancer cases whereas suffers in those other countries may not get diagnosed? 🤷🏼♀️

It’s because poor Nigerians don’t go to the hospital when they get cancer, they keep struggling to survive every day until they die. If you don’t go to the doctor then you ’don’t have cancer’ on paper 🤔🧐

I feel like it's part of evolution. While 1st world countries have modern medicine to prolong life, a sick baby in Africa will die off and only the strong and immune will survive which will make thier offspring have better genes for the future.
