I think one of the most damaging things social media has done to relationships is convince people that anything which makes them uncomfortable must be bad for them. Someone disappoints you. Someone says something you don't like. Your spouse behaves in a way you didn't expect. And suddenly you're questioning whether that person deserves to remain in your life. We've become incredibly quick to label people. Toxic. Narcissistic. Manipulative. A red flag. And sometimes those descriptions are justified. But sometimes you're just dealing with another imperfect human being. Someone who makes mistakes. Someone who has their own struggles. Someone who might genuinely love you but doesn't always know how to express it properly. I've seen relationships that could have been saved fall apart because people became more interested in proving they were right than resolving the problem. And I think the internet has made this worse. Because it's easy for a stranger who knows nothing about your marriage to tell you to leave. They don't have to deal with the consequences. They don't know your husband. They don't know your wife. They don't know the years you've spent building a life together. And yet their opinion becomes more important than having an honest conversation with the person you married. Obviously, I'm not talking about genuine abuse or situations where someone's safety is at risk. But we need to stop confusing discomfort with harm. Sometimes marriage requires patience. Sometimes it requires forgiveness. Sometimes you need to apologise even when your ego is telling you not to. And sometimes you need to bring in people who can help you work through things properly. Not every disagreement is a reason to walk away. Not every difficult season means you married the wrong person. And not every relationship problem needs an audience. Before you allow strangers on the internet to convince you that someone you love is the problem, make sure you've genuinely tried to understand and resolve what's happening between you. Because some relationships don't need to end. They need two people who are still willing to make them work.
