Ironically Lynch changed his mind a good bit later in life, when he embraced digital he also became more open to the idea of people watching films in the home as the technology caught up with cinema and made a cinema experience possible at home, I can't remember if he exactly said phones were a good means to watch films but I think I remember him saying something about it, or that could have been laptop screens he was talking about for the likes of tv shows like twin peaks, aslong as you are the right distance away you can achieve a similar experience to cinema or at least tv
