Alot of people only see the surface smh. One scenario example: Sometimes a Single Person already applied for the BTO but met a partner halfway near flat completion / or did not want to give up the flat. The couple need to complete MOP of 5 or 10 years before they can upgrade to a bigger house.. Sometimes the housing rules can also affect single people’s decisions to get married down the road or have kids. Hope this info provide some POV for singles above 35 to really consider properly before applying your 2 room flexi BTO. Its a 10-15 years commitment the day u sign the docs till u get your “freedom”.

It is wasteful for a couple to take 2 rooms flexi if you buy subsidised flat or take loan/ grant from HDB. You waste first pot of making money and this is counted as first timer. Really wasteful

Many people here why choose a smaller unit, why don’t go for bigger, next time got children how etc… Why don’t feel happy for them to have their own living space? I am sure if they want children next time they will have another plan. For now, it’s cosy and enough for them so why not? Learnt to be happy for others so good things will come to you too
