Exactly! Thank you. When I started watching *Lost*, I had a preconceived notion about the ending—that they had been dead the whole time. But after watching the entire series through to the end, I no longer understood why people believed they were dead and that the events on the island hadn't actually happened; it was clear that everything really did happen to them—they left the island, lived their lives, and then reunited after they died.

The day after the finale, I tuned in to ABC’s Good Morning America hoping to hear fanfare. All I heard was George Stephanopoulos say “they were dead the whole time”. I threw my remote at the tv and haven’t watched GMA since. Their own network basically reinforced the wrong conclusion. Furious.

I watched lost with my partner and went in knowing they were “dead” the whole time, imagine my surprise when by the ending I was left wondering when they were dead the whole time was going to be revealed, the only parts they were “dead” for was the alternate reality and that was them having to come to terms with dying, either on the island or post island like Sawyer, who did escape, comprehension clearly failed people
