one of the things I appreciate about actors like Gary Oldman, is his ability to make the character real. no matter what role he plays, it is YHAT character. Soviet terrorist stealing Air Force one? totally believable, Sirius black? no problem, and I never look at Sirius and think "hey! he hijacked air force one!" prime ministers? whatever he plays, it is real and true to the character.

The moment Harry came back to hogwarts in the last movie and confronted Snape the coolest thing I love about that scene is Snape reflects menerva’s spell to take out the 2 death eaters in the room then he leaves. You can also see how heart broken he was in that moment that he had to fight ppl he cared about. Alan rickman was a legend

I remember Jason Isaacs almost quit because his character went to prison at the end of book/movie 5 and he needed to know if the series was worth coming back to or whether Lucius was going to spend the rest of the time in jail and Jo said to him “Book 6 you’re out”

I just love Snape’s character plot. He gets zero redemption arc. His character never changes, not really. His character doesn’t even really develop. What we get is his “why.” Why he’s so bitter. There’s that line “hurt people hurt people.” He was always supposed to be a tragic character. And I’m actually glad she wrote him as abusive and mean and bitter because his personality developed during a time when he was neglected or abused himself. The bullying may have compounded that and pushed him towards people who were sort of accepting him as-is. He didn’t see it as recruitment at the time but the Death Eaters saw his intelligence and decided he could be an asset. And the fact that Rowling gave him the inside info so he could present the character as this tragically bitter, deeply feeling and flawed person…just a really good character.
