@helinahandbasketirl: EDIT it's 810 million, not billion, but it's still a massive amount. Follow up video posted! #ireland #politics #hosepipe #datacentre #analysis
It’s not bollix we all have to do our bit to help when use has gone up so much. No one is saying you can’t use it they are saying to use or reuse water. I agree about large cooperations but we don’t respect water overall. It’s like saying don’t do your bit to recycle or compost etc we all have to do our bit. This isn’t America.

I think thus statistic helps to understand the scale...
1 million seconds is 11.6 days.
1 billion seconds is 31.7 YEARS.
billion is a huge number.

It rained for 10 months solid. They need to be able to capture what's falling in the wet season.

Just make them build massive reservoirs beside the data centres and let them harvest 100% of the water they need (paid for by them of course). Like, make it a, planning stipulation before 1 sod is turned. Simple!

Austin Dwyer330 :
It is not that there is a shortage of water. With this good weather, Irish water cannot maintain the supply and cover the leakage at the same time. That's what the problem is. That's why there's a hose pipe ban."

Do some research before you spread misinformation. The figure is the total figure supplied nationwide to all consumers. Uisce Éireann supplies approximately 608,000 megalitres of water annually, of which 0.13% (C. 810 megalitres) is consumed across all known data centres."

They don't really use much water at all, not relevant amount, they are air cooled. The electricity usage on the other hand is shocking and abhorrent!
