I had a Mazda that had a rotary engine. Those seals wear out quickly and then your engine is a piece of crap. I sold the lemon as soon as I got got it.

The Apex seal almost sealed the fate no pun intended of the rotary engine It took them a long time and a lot of trial and error to find the right kind of material early Apex seals fell apart much too quickly later models did too much damage walls of the rotary assembly.
It took a lot of r&d to get the right materials. And even after all of that the apex seal is still the rotary engines Achilles heel.

I don’t even get how that can hold compression after running more than 10 minutes 😂

it literally wants to spin faster and faster. becoming easier to spin when every spin. like a turbine. so when you and turbo, it's like it's meant to be.

During the 70s, the RX2 came out. They were the in thing and everyone had to have one... until... the seals kept failing. The engine missfired, spluttered, burned oil and people started trying to sell them. In the end, we, as Tek boys, bought them for nothing, fitted Capella 1800 cc engines into them and sold them for a large profit. The car was great, just a shit engine.

ALSO, Wankels are IDEAL for turbocharging AND turbocompounding due to hot, hot exhaust.

These engines are great driving. Torque curve is linear. No flat spot. Loved my 2nd gen RX7. Dual exhaust. Handled great,

why you people keep rebuilding this🙄

forgot the fact that if the rotor is what sealed it then you would have to replace rotors when worn down instead of apex seals and that costs wayyy more

Add a bottle of two cycle oil to a tank of gas and it’ll extend the service limit of the apex seals.

Variability in case and rotor relative position due to heat, RPM, and vibration.
