Often times girls/women who were sexually abused can become hyper sexual as teens/young adults. Boys/men who were sexually abused often times become abusers or aggressive/abusive. This comment will probably be flagged.

It was the first currency I was taught to trade with - sex for "love/validation", and it was a quick and fast earner. It took me such a long time to deconstruct that!

It's often about trying to regain control over our experience of sex. it is a very seemingly bizzare side effect, but its very common xx

sex was the only way I could feel in control after being SAd multiple times, it’s made me feel so much shame

No matter what kind of trauma the consequences of it in most cases don’t really make sense.. not even to the victims themselves which I think is also one of the reasons they struggle to acknowledge what happened

From my experience, when I turned 18 I became extremely hypersexual. I had sex with whoever, whenever, with many men for about 3-4years. Looking back on it, the sex meant absolutely nothing. It wasn't until I met my Husband when I was 28 for me to realise sex with someone I loved felt so different. I went through a complete personality shift, guilt, sadness anger..... for me to be ok with having sex with my future husband. Also the fact he completely understood and accepted what I was going through made it all the more emotional.

I always describe myself as sexually bipolar. I’m all or nothing. When I was younger I was all…then went through a period of not wanting it at all and feeling deep shame. Thank you for talking about this as it will help so many people move past the shame and achieve a healthy balanced sex life ❤️

Unless someone’s been through it they’d never know, from another woman that acted just like you did afterwards❤️

I would say my SA has *definitely* affected my sex life after. I was sex averse up to the point I was actually diagnosed with Vestibulodynia. I have overcome this and now in my 30s am definitely still affected, I wouldn't say hypersexual but exploring k.i.n.k (all consenting obvs)with my husband, which given the k.i.n.k is definitely about taking back power in the situation and control in loads of scenarios and it's interesting to me because I am NOT the d.o.m.... but in a way I find it... healing.... I know some ppl may not understand but we are happy with it.

There is so much shame in survivors who experience hyper-sexuality. I always struggled to be intimate (with someone I love and want to enjoy) but actual s*x was the only way I felt good about myself. It’s really nice to have someone talk about this

I don’t struggle to be intimate and i do enjoy it but i just never get to the big o, not even on my own. I am giving up on reaching it- and i think it has to do with the grooming i experienced as a tween

my partner was SA by her last 2 partners and is hypersexual and is a very k.in.k orientated person to a point now if I say no or maybe later she will literally breakdown or do stuff to herself to get me to do things to her
