I threatened to call the cops on my ex husband so he did it first. met the cop outside and talked to him for about 20 minutes. they came in the house together and I was visibly shaken and still crying. the cop said I just needed to calm down and made me hug him cause he really loves me. then left. took me several more years to get up the courage to finally leave.

I got restraining orders against my ex but then I had to find someone to serve him because the courts wouldn’t do it. I had to take the order to the police department in the city my ex lived in and then beg them to serve the guy. Restraining orders don’t work because the system uses them like bandages instead of actually protecting women.

every abuser has this mindset. EVERY type of abuser. they are determined. calculated. they don’t do anything suddenly or out of the blue. it’s wired into their worldview. I’ve seen these same sentiments comes from parents talking about beating their own children. read a book of first hand interviews called I *think* “The Rape Journals” (gotta check this title) for a GWS course and rapists ALL felt justified, no matter the circumstances. They felt zero remorse. They felt they were correcting women for being home alone wearing night clothes when they broke in their homes.

Im disgusted just by the clips of this video. Also i dont believe society doesnt know how to properly deal w these cases, beating up women just isnt seen as a big deal or something to care about so theyre lenient towards abusers.

This is why I have I don't see the value in entertaining conversations about rehabilitation not necessarily because its ontologically impossible but because we have yet to set up a world where that is a realistic option how can you rehabilitate someone who doesn't believe they're in the wrong how can you rehabilitate someone who has yet to experience tangible long lasting consequences for the things they did how can you rehabilitate someone who still actively benefits from the harm they have perpetuated

The police officers prob also believe that men should be in control of women which is why they rarely intervene in these cases cus all they see is a man right correcting his property. When you all of these things into consideration, it makes you realise just how many abusers walk amongst us and interact with us. It’s esp poignant when your watching a viral video of women/girls being abused in some horrific way and all you can see is a bunch of men asking “well what did she do to set him off like that?”.

At the very least, if you get a restraining order put on you, you should have to wear an ankle bracelet that shocks you if you go near your victim, and police are dispatched immediately.

Imagine having to leave the state/province but have medical institutions not releasing your medical records having to go back to that area and not having the restraining order reinstated - it’s beyond ridiculous to protect offenders

this man shows zero remorse for his actions. if he was truly reformed, he would look back on his actions with guilt, discussed, embarrassment, and sadness. I see none of those emotions in him in these clips
