Cathy :
And lo, Garri arose from the earth, humble in appearance, yet mighty in virtue. Blessed art thou among the foods of the land, for thou satisfiest both the poor and the rich.
When the purse is empty, thou forsakest not thy people; when hunger knocketh at the door, thou answerest speedily. Thou needest neither fire nor long preparation, but with water alone dost thou comfort the weary soul.
Thou art faithful in the morning, steadfast at noon, and reliable in the evening. With sugar and milk art thou glorious; with groundnuts art thou exalted; and with fish and coconut art thou crowned with honour.
Though rice boasteth of its abundance, and yam of its strength, yet Garri remaineth the companion of generations. Many have feasted upon thee and have given thanks, for thou hast not failed them in the day of need.
Therefore let every hungry soul remember thy name, and let thy bowl never be empty. For blessed is the household wherein Garri dwelleth, and joyful are they that cry, “Soak am!” Amen. 😄
