Every frame built from primary sources: the New York Public Library, the Library of Congress, the Nationaal Archief in The Hague, the NYC Municipal Archives, and the Smithsonian. I reached out to Myles Zhang, urban historian at the University of Michigan, midway through the project, after I came across his work "Here Grows New York", and sent him a preview of what I was doing, to which he graciously replied with historical corrections and forwarded my work to Eymund Diegel, a historical cartographer and GIS expert at the NYC Department of Transportation. Eymund Diegel has created the most detailed map that exists of the pre-Dutch and early-Dutch topography of Manhattan and the surrounding areas. We did a couple of rounds of feedback, and this increased my drive to create the best timelapse of New York that has ever been made and the best timelapse I have done to date. Their feedback helped improve the accuracy of New York's geography and history. Any remaining mistakes are my own. I documented the entire process of creating this video and turned it into a Production System that combines CGI and AI to create historical timelapses. It is available now on Patreon.
