@based.legacy: In 390 BC, the Senones, a Celtic tribe led by Brennus, attacked Roman lands in Italy. They defeated the Roman army at the Battle of the Allia, where Roman forces were routed and many drowned while fleeing. The victorious Celts then advanced to Rome. With the city poorly defended, they entered and sacked it, burning structures and stealing riches. Romans who had taken refuge on the Capitoline Hill eventually agreed to pay a ransom of gold weighing one thousand pounds to make the Celts depart. This humiliating defeat for Rome showcased the strength and bravery of Celtic warriors in battle. #historyedit #celtic #roman
