I get tested every year due to my husbands infidelity and sure enough he gave me an std. thankfully it was curable but that left me with tremendous trust issues. I did leave him after 19 years. People do need to be aware of the rise. Thank you for sharing your story

#spreading #awareness up until 1974 hsv1 and hsv2 were not considered an sti. It wasn’t until a company by the name of Burroughs welcome wanted to sell their product what we now know as acyclovir. The company was facing a crisis in their financial department and in a desperate attempt to see a financial return on their investment research (acyclovir) they created the stigma and advertised/marketed hsv2 as incurable and dangerous so medical professionals would approve acyclovir to their patients insurance companies. I’m helping spread awareness not to discern from disclosure but in hopes that the CDC and ASHA as well as other medical professionals on this app can come together as a community and reevaluate/dismantle the stigma around herpes. And to also let others know who live with it that it’s not their fault of carrying a stigma that was created for monetary gain
