@priscillamarielopez: 25 years ago today, my grandpa unexpectedly passed away from a heart attack. He was only 54 years old. 🤍 I got to have one of the sweetest conversations with my boys about heaven. Watching my oldest process it with such childlike faith was so beautiful. He wanted to pray for Grandpa, thanking God that he was with Jesus, asking that he would be surrounded by kind people, and praying that one day we’d all be together again. To someone who doesn’t know Jesus, it can seem strange that there can be laughter, stories, and even joy in the middle of tears. Of course we grieve. We miss them. We wish we had more time. But because of Jesus, we don’t grieve without hope. We celebrate a life well lived, and we rejoice knowing that for those who have trusted in Christ, they are in the presence of the One they’ve longed to see. Getting to explain that to my boys today reminded me why the gospel is such good news. One day, because of Jesus, death won’t have the final word. Until then, we hold tightly to the promise that we’ll see our loved ones again. “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain…” — Revelation 21:4 🤍
