Sorry for your experience. This almost happened to my friends and me in Cambodia. As Nigerians, we were initially denied entry because the immigration officers insisted we needed a visa, even though every official source and platform we checked stated that Nigerians were visa free. We refused to turn back. We argued, and even threatened to contact the Nigerian embassy. They threatened to lock us up if we didn’t comply and already lined us up and took pictures of us. That’s when we decided to change our destination, but Qatar Airways no gree, that we had to return to Nigeria on our pre-booked return tickets. Another argument, we had the right to change destination , we paid for it after all. Eventually, the chief immigration officers noticed we were confident in our position and asked what we did for a living. They requested proof of employment, accommodation bookings, and evidence that we could afford the trip, especially since we planned to visit one of their islands (Song sa island). Nigerians had a bad rep of overstaying, leaving their passport at immigration and just never returning. We had to present photocopies of our work IDs, hotel reservations, and other supporting documents. It was a stressful experience, but after reviewing everything, they finally allowed us into the country. But i will never advice anyone to go there. Never!!!

Avoid qater airlines by all means, especially if you’re on transit. I’ve heard too many similar stories

You’re going to stay in Qatar for 2 days before continuing your trip, that means immigration officers there, have every right to ask you questions and also have the right to accept or deny you the stay based on their entry requirements. If you’re only there for like 6 hours layover then you can remain in the airport while waiting for your flight and your main luggage would have been flown to your destination and you won’t be bothered or sent back. Try to always give full information to avoid sending the wrong message

Omo I swear, if it was me I wouldn’t pay for my flight back to Nigeria, what would they do?. Cause if they’re deporting or denying you entry, the airline is meant to handle the costs if your ticket is round trip, Soo sorry dear.

This is strange! So sorry about your experience. It’s most likely because you checked out of the airport and wemt into their country, so immigration will treat you like you’re leaving from their country not just layover. I’ve been to Qatar afew times and even flew Qatar when Relocating to Canada and I didn’t have any problems, I STAYED IN THE AIRPORT FOR MY LAYOVER. If you don’t exit the airport, no immigration will send you back. I vlogged my experience and posted on my YouTube Adeola lately.
