I'm sorry this happened to her. The first mistake was the price they gave you $1600 is barely the cost of a local move. My brother is in the industry a move like this 10-15k minimum. I hope she gets her stuff back but also br prepared for damages the guy sounds like a real winner.

I’m in Alberta too and have a very similar story with our movers. See if they’re registered with the Canadian movers association as well as the Better Business Bureau. I have some email addresses I can send you too

my dad just finished helping a family in Barrie who just moved there and got screwed over by a moving company... they would not give any of his stuff back.. I wonder if it's the same one. I will have to ask him

Had trouble 35 years ago moving from Ottawa to Calgary. Nth American, driver wanted more money to load everything despite getting an estimate. arrived and I was last load in the huge truck. they stayed overnight so I guess the extra covered their hotel and food.😏 Got scammed in Montreal 10 yrs ago where the 2 movers wanted $800 more before they would unload the entire truck. Last year my son and DIL were scammed for more by an Ottawa mover who refused to unload at the apt until a few hundred more changed hands. it's real

we used a moving company once. Will never do that again, anything we owned with a higher price value was magically "damaged" and they refused to show us ANY of the damages, mind you alot of it was our new born babies pieces, (crib, change table, dressers) kitchen appliances 😬😥 im so sorry this is happening to your mom,

I'm sorry to say but they've probably already been through her stuff, sold what they could and tossed the rest. A company did the same to me 40 years ago. I truly hope she does get it back though
