Yeah especially at funerals. Don’t say they in a better place now. Empathise with them.

so true, when Inwas going through breast cancer someone said, at least you'll get a breast reduction and look better... Lord give me the wisdom to always know how to act to glorify Your name in everything! Thoughts, actions, words!

I love this. After 3 consecutive miscarriages I was told “at least you have two healthy kids.” I felt so guilty for grieving as felt like when I was sad that I did not love my living kids enough and that’s why I lost the babies I did. It took so long to get out of that pit of depression. People who validated me helped me so much, I felt seen and loved.

The most common thing I heard when I was going through my darkest times was just get over it. It’s basically just another way of saying I don’t really care about what you’re going through.

When my husband was on hospice, a Christian friend told me " I just God would go ahead and take him, so you can go on with your life."

Thank you for this, I have been saying this for years. Often parents do this in ways of a breakup, they would say words such as pray for them (him/her) in that moment you’re not ready to pray. And the list goes on… thank you for clarifying this by giving an example of what Jesús did 🙏

I think the intention is to be supportive but they just don’t know what to say and end up saying the wrong things.

Well, yes, but Jesus wept and THEN he FIXED. So the message isn’t “don’t fix”, it’s more “Listen first. Care first. Meet them where they’re at first”. 😊

Had a friend go through something . I let them know I am here. Let them know it’s okay to hurt and be there. But remind the Jesus is with them .

" get over it" " pray harder" " You're a Christian you shouldn't be depressed " you really think I chose to struggle with depression and anxiety?
when elijah asked God to kill him God didn't scolde him or told him to pray harder instead He sent an angel to take care of Elijah feed him.

I know absolutely zero Christians who do that. There are some who are immature in the faith who don’t often know what to say, but I have never heard people operate so callously.
