Just to note that there is no issue with watching a few goals or highlights from time to time, nor with playing football itself. However, for many people today, that is not the reality. They become obsessed with football clubs, developing loyalty and disavowal (al-walāʾ wa al-barāʾ) based on teams, rivalries, and players. We see this all around us subhanllah. May Allah guide the Muslims and grant us the ability to use our time in that which benefits us in our religion and worldly affairs.
