I played Clair Obscure Expedition 33 around the third anniversary of my best friend suddenly passing away. No other game touched me in the same way before or after. The profound themes of grief, loss, hope and coping with the loss just resonated with me like nothing else

I played animal crossing after my dad died, I saw I got a new villager and it was Apollo, the only villager my dad knew and one that acted like him. I still will play animal crossing when I’m having a rough day to help me relax. Another game I played during some rough days was crime scene cleaner. The cleaning helped me relax and calm down

I witnessed a very graphic suicide and was sent away from uni for a couple of weeks (after needing to head back to the GP to get sleeping tablets). I played a load of older video games I’d played as a kid (Sims Stories) while being unable to do anything else really (other than eat and sleep). Still ended up with moderate depression and time off work (where the GP told me to go play video games and recommended some!!) but has definitely helped me

I want to know how they found this out. I’ve known about this fact but it’s so wild to think they going to people who have experienced the worst trauma of their lives and is like “hey can you play this game for science?”
