@therapistinrecovery: Anyone with OCD has an overly sensitive, over reactive neurotransmitter circuit or “fire alarm system” in their brain. While medications have been shown to address parts of this cycle, behavioral therapy is actually shown to be most effective (often paired with medication) long term at changing that neurological defect holistically and sustainably. So, if you needed a sign to do more for your ocd, this is it!! Healing is not only possible but I see it every day! Give me a follow and DM me to get on the list to be notified for my online ocd course this fall! #ocdtherapist #ocdawareness #neurology #obsessivecompulsivedisorder #ocdtiktok

Being on an SSRI was really helpful to be able to do ERP. It made my compulsions feel less intense.

My hope is that being on my SSRI enhances my behavioral therapy progress, helps rewire things and then I can eventually be SSRI free. Is that a practical hope?

Effexor worked wonders for me 20+ years ago (along with CBT) but had to come off (due to afib) currently on Zoloft (150 mg) and it’s not as effective as I would like.
