@alex_military_money: you can build serious wealth in the military š i know because we did it. 16 years. $4.7m net worth. not saying that to brag - saying it because i want military families to know itās completely possible. with regular jobs, young kids, and a PCS every 3 years. hereās what actually moved the needle for us: 1. we used the VA loan more than once. most families sell and start over at the next duty station. we didnāt. we kept the properties. thatās how you build a real estate portfolio - and passive income - on a military salary. 2. we never stopped growing our income. raises, new skills, better companies, side hustles when we could fit them in. my husband drove for Uber and Lyft when we already had millions in net worth. zero shame in that. the difference? that money always had a job - emergency fund, retirement, brokerage. lifestyle creep kills wealth quietly. 3. we actually did the math on the pension. at 10 years we had the āstay in or get outā conversation. when we ran the real numbers - pension payments over a lifetime plus Tricare for Life - it was seven figures. easy. the decision made itself. wealth in the military isnāt luck. itās decisions made early, repeated often, and protected fiercely. if you just found this page - welcome. this is the corner of TikTok that actually builds something. #militarylife #militarytiktok #militarywife #navy #military

My husband started as enlisted at 17 but he did enlisted reserve. While he was enlisted that covered his undergrad and then when he graduated and he was done with his six years, he got accepted to veterinary school and then got the HPSP scholarship through the army and so that paid for three out of the four years of his vet school. Now heās a veterinarian in the military as an officer and heās able to moonlight every weekend so heās able to pick up additional 12 hour shifts on the weekends which pay $2000 to $3000 per shift. He picks up 2/3 shifts on average per week. Because of this weāve been able to save up so much and even though we havenāt been able to utilize the VA home loan as much due to the consistency of moves and our moves overseas itās been an incredible start.
