@elen.tuta: Yes, salaries in Switzerland are higher. But let’s be honest: Switzerland gives you more money and then immediately tries to take it back from you. Rent is high. Health insurance is separate. Groceries are expensive. Childcare can feel like a second rent. And going out sometimes feels like an activity for the rich rich. 💸 Not “I have a decent salary” rich. I mean the kind of rich where you don’t even look at the menu before ordering. One time, we ordered McDonald’s delivery in Switzerland and paid around CHF 80. 😱 For McDonald’s. Not sushi. Not steak. Not some luxury dinner. McDonald’s. That was the moment I realized that in Switzerland, even being lazy for one evening can become a financial event. 😂 In Germany, salaries are lower, yes. But with an average salary, normal life often feels more accessible. You can go out for dinner, order takeaway, get your hair done or book a spontaneous weekend without feeling like every small decision needs a financial strategy meeting. In Switzerland, you can earn much more and still hear yourself saying: “No, let’s just eat at home.” So yes, Switzerland pays more. But it also charges you more for almost everything that makes life enjoyable.
