Proper etiquette for eating soup is to scoop away from yourself so that if you splash any out of the bowl it doesn't get on you.

Korean spoons are my go to! Long handle, nice big spoon end, but not ladle deep. If the rounded end is too deep, I end up with it all down my chin.
