@sciencefunn: South Korean researchers have developed a transparent solar window that can generate electricity while remaining clear enough to function much like ordinary glass. A team from Korea University, working with researchers from the Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) and Korea Aerospace University, created a hybrid transparent photovoltaic device that captures sunlight while maintaining high transparency and natural color quality. The study was published in the journal Joule. The prototype can also generate small amounts of electricity from indoor artificial lighting, making it useful in environments where sunlight is limited. Rather than replacing conventional rooftop solar panels, the technology is intended to complement them by turning windows and other glass surfaces into energy-producing components. If successfully commercialized, transparent solar windows could help improve the energy efficiency of homes, office buildings, and other structures while supporting the transition toward lower-carbon, net-zero energy buildings. Im gonna say what everybody is afraid to say - Horrible efficiency - Not cost effective - Solars are most effectivr when sun rays are perpendicular to its surface, window on the other hand will always be facing the rays angled - Most windows are covered by roof and shade
