Anyone else pick up a new hobby recently? 😄 I have been reflecting heaps over the past couple of weeks, since the ‘closing of the strait of Hormuz’ to be specific. With all the news coming out about how it’s closure can lead to shortage in fuel and fertiliser, and subsequently less crops grown on farms and difficulty in transporting them to our supermarkets.. I thought deeply about how disconnected we are from the source of the food we eat! Fruits and vegetables are always in abundance on our supermarket shelves, so we can’t even imagine a disruption to their availability- but here we are with some fears that this supply might not be as readily available or as affordable in the near future. This made me reflect on the various verses in the Holy Quran where Allah swt talks about the water that comes down from the sky to bring out crops for us from the land. This is one of the greatest miracles of Allah swt, a miracle that we all enjoy daily but don’t really think about much or thank Allah swt for anywhere near enough. I realised that I, and every other human, have access to this miracle from our own homes! We can sow a seed, give it water and leave the rest up to Allah swt. This miracle allows us to grow our own crops and produce, and reduce our dependence on the supply chains that are ever so fragile. I don’t have large land, nor garden beds to plant in, so I’m starting to grow in pots on my humble balcony. Im doing what I can and putting my full trust in Allah swt to provide me with sustenance - at the end of the day, Allah swt is: * Ar-Razzaq (الرزاق): The Provider of all sustenance. * Al-Wahhab (الوهاب): The One who gives freely. * Al-Karim (الكريم): The Most Generous. * Al-Basit (الباسط): The One who expands provision. * Al-Mughni (المغني): The One who enriches. * Al-Muqeet (المقيت): The Nourisher and Sustainer. * Al-Waasi’ (الواسع): The All-Encompassing. * Al-Akram (الأكرم): The Most Generous of all..  Have you also started gardening? What have you planted? #gardening #selfsufficiency #growingfood
