Sending this to my son right now. He’s got a mix of friends but I’ve always observed the majority not looking like him. I’ve even said to him many times be careful because they don’t think of you as their equal. Even the ones that say they don’t see colour do. They hate to be “labelled” that way but end up showing you who they are if they feel threatened by something as simple as your confidence

Please talk to your children, don’t sugar coat nothing. Also, tell them not everyone is your friend, I don’t care if they have been friends since kindergarten. Explain what real friendship is. I saw a video on this app last week a black father was explaining to his young children 5-8 years old, what friendship is, set up like a classroom with a dry erase board.
