@al_pachinohimselff: Boomers telling us to stop eating avocado toast and save for house. The house they bought for $67,000 is now worth $780,000. They didn't build wealth through discipline. They built wealth through timing. And now they're giving advice like it was skill
As a Gen Xer all the whining has made me side with boomers.

why don't you ask the boomers how big the house was when they bought them the first one and then ask yourself how big is the house that you're trying to buy and then wonder why you can't afford it

They still had to work and save for that $67,000.00 house. You act like it was just handed to them. 🤦🏻♂️

I want to know what the payoff is in trashing your grandparents. Good luck with that. I’m 80 years old. I’m still working 7 days a week. Any money I tried to put away is gone. Everything costs ten times what it used to. We are one twisted ankle away from bankruptcy from medical bills. This oligarchy has impoverished 80% of us. Don’t blame old people. That’s what they want you to do. Blame the ruling class that has robbed you blind. Wise up.

Here try this out!!, go to mortgage calculator,, a 78,000.00 dollar home in 1981-2or 3 that 67,000.0 home would cost with a 30 yr fixed 360,000.00 dollars, you are not factoring the total pkg, your just looking at the BASE PRICE. In the 80’s when almost 80% bought their houses, the interest rate was 17-18.5 % stop looking at the top line, an look at bottom line

Glad I didn't spend my life complaining about what everyone else had on their plate and instead went out and crushed it with hard work and determination.

Bull it was based on delayed gratification. In life you always start at the bottom and work your way up.

No they built wealth on sacrifice and saving. There were no Starbucks and Chipotle. It was instant Maxwell House and a brown bag lunch.

My parents bought house for 17,500 in 1962. Today $250,000. That is only a 3.5% increase per year. People have less money because of computers, cell phones, expensive auto's. Stop blaming baby boomers for your problems.

Gen Z would never move into the dump that was my first house at age 24. Much blood, sweat, and tears later I was able to upgrade from there. Lots of sacrifices.

In the 80s voomers had 10% inflation and 18% interest rates. The equivalency is that $67k house would cost $272k in today's dollars.

My first house 30 years ago cost six times my salary. I was a few years out of college at the time. And today a house costs six times the salary of someone a few years out of college with the same degree that I earned. I couldn’t afford any luxuries and could barely make the payments, but I kept it up and as my salary increased things got a little easier.
