It’s not overreacting. They have a baby. It’s time to move out of his parent’s house. If it were me I would have said don’t bother because I wouldn’t want that in the back of my mind. Worrying he only moved in with me because he’s the father of my baby and feels obligated to, not because he loves me and wants to be with me and baby.

Are they only sad? Are they also maybe scared? Are they excited at all? Is it just the sad or are they expressing the others? If they're JUST sad and not excited yeah stay on your own and let them stay with parents like they want. You'll be better off. It could be the other emotions even scares to be partly responsible for providing a home for you and child now is scary and parents is safe and why theyre saying sad. Id ask and go from there.
