Was it really casual when we’d tell people we were dating, even though we weren’t officially together? Was it casual when you’d defend me every time someone talked bad about me, like my feelings actually mattered to you? Was it casual when you’d call me “my love” and tell me my eyes were beautiful, looking at me like you meant every word? Was it casual when we’d spend hours cuddled up together watching rom-coms, laughing, talking, and acting like we were the only two people in the world?
Was it casual when we’d hold hands everywhere we went, when everyone around us thought we were a couple because that’s exactly how we acted? Was it casual when we’d be intimate and share moments that weren’t just physical, but felt personal and real? Was it casual when you asked to meet my mom, knowing that’s not something you ask to do with someone who’s “just casual”? Was it casual when you gave me hope without ever saying the words out loud?
Because from where I was standing, none of that felt casual. You don’t do all those things with someone who means nothing to you. You don’t make someone feel loved, safe, and chosen just to turn around and say it was never that serious. Maybe it was casual to you, but you made it feel like it was so much more. So no I guess it wasn’t fucking casual
