Matt Bradshaw :
Copper pipe can only touch copper or brass per code. That valve is a dissimilar metal and will cause electrolysis. The electrolysis will wear down the copper pipe with in a few years. Then you will be repiping the property. That’s why.

Just looked it up on Amazon it’s over $400 what a pointless gadget at that price! Might as well hire a plumber!

Because eventually they do leak and then you’ve got a pipe with a big hole in it

just another day 🇨🇦 :
in the commercial/industrial,world they call that a hot tap. it is used when the supply cannot be interrupted because of the process flowing in the pipe. not too many small applications or residential applications are in a state where you cant shut the water off for a few minutes. although they work fine, hot taps are the most prone to leak over time, so only used where they need to be used

I would just cut the pipe and either put a compression fitting or propress shut off valve..

because we do it the correct way by soldering a ball valve in. that bs has too many failure points and probably costs too much for something you can't trust
