if Hajime isn't the protag I'm probably just not gonna play 😭 like I can't deal with someone other than him being it I feel like it just doesn't suit the game well, I liked how we saw nagito's perspective and his thoughts during chapter 4 but I don't think I would like the whole time honestly. Hajime is a realistic character that makes the player relate to how he's reacting to near death situations, I feel like if it was anyone else it would turn out to be too forced??? Like instead of having someone who's confused on their identity and realistically knows that the situation their in isn't normal we get someone else who's less on edge and doesn't have the same mindset on getting out. It would just take away a lot of factors from the game, and I feel like Hajime is made to be the protag.
