the final blow to my sanity was finding out they took out the olive tree bed. The climax of the story being Penelope outsmarting Odysseus and they just... took it out. For what reason? They couldn't figure out how to make a bed carved into a tree? Would a flashback to them meeting under the tree be too whimsical and ungrounded? I'm so annoyed about this movie, all the choices made were just terrible at every step 😭

Imma just continue to put this in comments until a director decides to do this: I think the odyssey should be a movie made into two parts. Part one: Telemachus’ odyssey. Him searching for his father. It would end with Telemachus meeting Odysseus disguised as an old beggar. Part two would be Odysseus’s journey. Starting with Odysseus being saved by Nausicaa and him telling his tale. At some point it all comes back together and he makes his way back to Ithaca and bing bang boom death to the suitors and reuniting with his family

Look. Christopher Nolan has some gorgeous LOOKING films. But the story and writing is more often then not shit 😭 I'm sick and tired of his films being glazed all around when yeah the aesthetics are OBJECTIVELY amazing while the narrative is incredibly lacking
