My favorite is the Victorian era fad of nipple piercings.

what's the opposite effect called. Like how the name Madison is only like 40 years old and came from a movie called Splash

The first time I saw a character wearing sunglasses in a movie set in the 1800s, I said there's no way. Then I googled it, and turns out people have been making glasses with tinted glass for about as long as people have been making glasses.

It just drives me nuts that people get hung up on plumbing in high fantasy books. Like plumbing is old, maybe not as refined as today. But, with magic, yes Im going to find characters access to toilets believable

I want a movie that is based on the Tiffeny problem. Super historical accurate, but seems a bit of

Pheobe has the same problem, if feels like it’s from the nineties but it’s from Ancient Greece

My favorite one is the reverse Tiffany problem of Madison. Madison didn’t not become a popular or common name until 1984 when Splash came out. Tom Hanks character even says “Madison’s not a name” name” but despite that Madison became SO overwhelmingly popular that most people assume it’d been around for a long time. So sometimes you’ll run into new problems like with the dumb high school Legally Blonde show. Where there’s a teenage girl in the early 90s named Madison. That same character would have been born before the Madison boom from Splash. Her being named Madison is highly unlikely.

it's so funny how ppl think non dairy milk is a new hippie thing when almond milk was often made w wine n almonds, commonly drunk or used in cooking as early as the middle ages while soymilk has been around in china since the han dynasty!

So, the least pressing request ever, but it would help my brain if there were a tiny print disclaimer about the number changing. Not really a big deal, it’s just old gaslighting derailing my recovering attention span 😊

Some early drafts for the movie Gladiator had sponsors for the gladiators, something that actually used to happen in ancient Rome, but they decided to not include that aspect of history in the movie, because they thought audiences wouldn't believe it was a real thing

Another example is gladiators being used in sponsorship similar to modern day athletes. Ridley Scott was going to depict that in Gladiator, but didn’t because he thought the audience would view it as anachronistic.

Xmas, too, sounds decidedly modern, but dates back to at least the 16th century (a version was first used in the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle in the 12th century)
