so. I didn't know this for the longest time. I also have osteoarthritis and I was raised by a hypochondriac (this did a number on my psyche, I constantly think it's all in my head) it took years for me to realize the pattern that my back pain increased tenfold when I was having a depressive episode. I allowed my doctor and mental health provider access to one another and they would often work in tandem. but I brought this up to my primary, the pain and my theory, convinced he'd tell me it was all in my head or bc I was spending more time in bed. 'his response: that makes sense, there are studies out there that show physical pain does increase for individuals w bipolar disorder during different episodes; why don't I go ahead and increase your dosage temporarily. message me if you have any other concerns so you don't have to worry about another copay and I'll let you know if it's concerning enough for you to make an appt.' I rather miss him. he was the first doctor to hear me, see me, take me seriously.

THIS 👏🏻👏🏻 before I was diagnosed with bipolar, we thought I had fibromyalgia. Because my body physically aches like the worst body aches I have ever had. Along with migraines. This made me feel less crazy and not “overreacting”.
