Ozempic wouldnt be a solution if obese people couldnt lose weight in a caloric deficit, since all it does is inhibit hunger

it's so funny because I'm fat as hell and I don't eat that much. I eat lunch (sometimes) and dinner. it's not like I'm constantly pigging out. but even if I was, I would still deserve basic human kindness.

You realize that none of the literature shows that if you’re a caloric deficit, you’ll still hold onto the weight right? How about you provide your studies

I think people are very attatched to the idea that they're morally superior to fat people (because they have nothing else to be superior about). they hang on to their extremely simplistic beliefs (calories in calories out) despite any evidence to the contrary because to do otherwise causes some kind of psychic injury. just like flat earthers.

Look into the “obesity paradox” and let me know what you think! Also check if there are any longitudinal studies on the effects of obesity

I’ve been obese my whole life. Even as a competitive athlete. I got a genetic test done that shows that I have genetic obesity. Helped me realize I am not a failure. My body is not typical.

& what’s rlly funny is GLPs kinda prove how not in your control weight often is, but the ppl abusing them and that never deconstructed their fatphobia can’t see that

This is why I personally won’t listen to anyone unless they’ve also struggled with this for a lifetime. I didn’t just gain some weight in my 20’s and now trying to lose it. I’ve been big since I was a CHILD. It’s different honestly. Mentally and metabolically.

Chronically Positive Lezli :
Yes. Obesity is a chronic illness, and it's often triggered by other chronic illnesses. People need to be able to make their own medical decisions.

yes, insulin resistance also makes it hard to withdraw from fat cells, so a person can be practically fainting with hunger and their body will be drawing from liver and muscles but be unable to access the fat

As a molecular biology scientist I’ve recently been reading a lot of papers about what genetic markers are most commonly found with mitochondrial dysfunction, and which pathways they affect, but also whether those genes are present from birth or develop through environment factors. And it’s unclear, we just don’t have enough information to conclude whether the mitochondrial dysfunction is found as a result of obesity or the cause of it. The general public can’t understand metabolic pathways and it’s easier for them to believe “calories in calories out” because it’s simplified even though it’s not the whole picture

It’s also a class thing. People who experience obesity especially in childhood come from poor families. I also did a paper on this that there’s also an economic factor to it. It’s not just genetic. That’s why a lot of natives were overweight bc of the food they were eating. They also might have other issues like Hormonal issues, Pre Diabetes or Gluten allergens and don’t know it till it’s too late.

I've been doing a deep dive on adipose tissue, obesity, and inflammation. If anyone tells me "move more eat less" and "calories in and calories out" I'm gonna throw hands. It is so much more complex!

Yes, losing a LOT of weight is definitely hard, but it is still as simple as eating less and moving more, that’s the only way to lose weight. If someone isn’t losing weight then they are eating more and moving less than they think they are. Nobody is above thermodynamics

It's because MEN created the narrative. "Calories in, calories out" "move more" etc. it's designed as an oversimplification to keep you consumed in capitalism. Diets, pills, glps etc

calories in and out is referring to metabolic rates in each person. the part they miss is there are disorders out there that prevent cells from taking in substances like sugar for example (diabetes) and there are disorders that can prevent cells from expelling stuff when they need to as well. if your body cant do both in a fast enough rate within 24 hrs then your metabolism is infact off and it doesnt always matter what you eat. especially if all the food at the grocery store is rotten and processed to hell and back then you really have even less control on how your body processes these items on a molecular level.

“Your body can not lose weight in a caloric deficit”. you’re right, your body actually just magically creates new methods to produce energy instead of getting its stored energy through fat. if you’re obese and on a 500 calorie deficit per day it’s not remotely possible to not lose weight

For me personally, I thought I was naturally fat or had a fat gene. The truth was my nervous system was dysregulates and I was using food to calm myself. I was addicted to food, it wasn't until getting on a glp 1 and losing 75 lbs and healing my nervous system I was able to maintain my weigh loss and not gain it back. Thats my personal story though.
