Jennie Kim and Lisa Manobal had mastered the art of being busy. Unfortunately, they had not mastered the art of being in two places at once. Jennie’s days were filled with recordings, rehearsals, photoshoots, interviews, and events. Lisa’s schedule was no better—business meetings, overseas calls, endless paperwork, and responsibilities that seemed to multiply whenever she finished one. Some weeks, they lived under the same roof but barely saw each other. Jennie would wake up to find Lisa’s side of the bed already empty. Lisa would come home to find Jennie asleep on the couch, still wearing the clothes she had worn that morning. But somehow, they always found a way. One Monday morning, Jennie woke up to a yellow sticky note attached to her phone. Eat breakfast. I know you. Don’t even think about skipping it. — L Jennie smiled sleepily. She walked into the kitchen and found another note on the refrigerator. And coffee is NOT breakfast. Jennie laughed. “Bossy,” she muttered, taking a picture of the note before sending it to Lisa. Jennie: You’re annoying. Lisa replied less than a minute later. Lisa: But you’re eating breakfast, right? Jennie stared at the message. Jennie: That’s not the point. Lisa: So you are. Good. I love you too. Jennie rolled her eyes, but the smile on her face stayed for the rest of the morning. Their relationship existed in little moments like that. A five-minute phone call between meetings. A voice message sent at two in the afternoon. A photo of lunch accompanied by, “Look, I actually ate.” A quick video call where neither of them said much because they were both working. Sometimes Jennie would simply place her phone beside her while Lisa worked on her laptop miles away. “You’re not even talking to me,” Lisa once said, glancing at the screen. “I know.” “Then why did you call?” Jennie continued reading her script. “Because I miss your face.” Lisa immediately stopped typing. Jennie looked up. “What?” “Nothing.” “You’re smiling.” “I’m not.” “You are.” “Go back to your script, Kim.” Jennie grinned. “Okay,Manoban.” Lisa tried to look annoyed. She failed terribly. ——— One particularly exhausting week, everything seemed determined to keep them apart. Jennie had been leaving before sunrise. Lisa had been coming home after midnight. By Thursday, they had only spent a total of twenty minutes together. On Friday afternoon, Jennie received a message. Lisa: Are you free tonight? Jennie sighed as she looked at her schedule. Jennie: I finish at 10. A few seconds later— Lisa: Perfect. Jennie frowned. Jennie: Perfect? I said 10 PM. Lisa: I can read, baby. Jennie: That’s late. Lisa: And? Jennie smiled at her phone. At exactly 10:17 that evening, Jennie walked out of the building, exhausted and ready to collapse. Then she saw Lisa. She was leaning against her car, still wearing the suit she had worn to work. Her tie was slightly loose, and she looked just as tired as Jennie felt. But she was there. Holding two cups of hot chocolate. Jennie stopped. “Lisa?” Lisa lifted one cup. “Date?” Jennie looked around the nearly empty parking lot. “Right now?” “Right now.” “Where are we going?” Lisa opened the passenger door. “Home.” Jennie blinked. “That’s your date?” “I ordered takeout.” “Very romantic.” “I also bought dessert.” Jennie immediately walked toward the car. “Why didn’t you say that first?” Lisa laughed. Their grand Friday-night date consisted of sitting on the living room floor in comfortable clothes, surrounded by takeout boxes. No expensive restaurant. No fancy dresses. No cameras. Just them. Jennie stole food from Lisa’s plate even though she had ordered the exact same thing. Lisa complained every single time. And still moved her plate closer to Jennie. After dinner, they attempted to watch a movie. Attempted. ⬇️⬇️ #jenlisa #au #fyp #pov
