Ok to the people who can’t grasp the telescope thing: the Event Horizon Telescope is made of several observatories across earth all synced up precisely so the angular resolution is the same as the diameter of the earth.

One of my absolute favorite things about space and related research is how normal it is that photos get released, NASA says “omg look at this, how cool!” And we say “wow, what does this mean?” and NASA goes “idk. But it could be very cool! Or scary…” I love it so much

Guys it's called the Event Horizon Telescope and it's was made of several radio telescopes that basically turned the earth into one giant radio telescope cits googlable. she isn't wrong y'all just take stuff too literally
