@pivotpodcast: “Data centers have become the vessel for outrage around income inequality.” @Scott Galloway tells Kara Swisher why he thinks data centers have become an outsized target for public frustration. #pivot #karaswisher #scottgalloway #datacenter #ai
Notice how he doesn’t mention the actual problem with Data Centers, which is the increase in Electric Bills.

Krakatoan :
Come live next to a couple of these data centers that were built in neighborhoods for a few weeks and say they aren’t noisy.

Exactly! Great idea. 10 years property taxes plus utilities!!!!

This reinforces why i quit listening to these two. Let's put a data center in your backyard dude. Tax income is not worth the destruction of our aquifers, heat islands, noise and light pollution etc.

Patricia Hickey29 :
Nope. Property taxes are not enough. while they may not use police and fire services (which... could a data center not catch on fire???) they do use our power and water infrastructure. our communities need compensation for using that infrastructure and they need to fully pay the cost differential for their impact on demand while home customers have ceilings on what they pay. that doesn’t even cover the environmental impact and how they will mitigate that.

You can tell this dude has a ton of money invested in data centers. He’s all about himself.

Seemingly Unimpressive :
We already have examples of what happens when a data center goes into a neighborhood. It is not good . We think they will do these things. BECAUSE WE SEE THEM DOING THESE THINGS .

Biggest beef I got is the impact on utility prices. Communities should not have foot the bill for the energy and water usage, assuming the community can even support the water usage.

SeaJoy4U :
He’s completely missing the point that these data center builders can build up with a closed loop water system to reduce the amount of water usage. But they won’t do it because it cost more. Municipalities have to force data center builders to use the close loop systems they are not going to do it on their own.

The idea that small municipal governments can just hire consultants to study the increase in electricity use and make the company compensate the citizens as part of the deal is wildly naive.
