No,people just don't understand sam the way they understand Dean. They were dependent on each other, sam just always tried to have a normal life and forget about the wickedness of the world,but dean never tried to forget.

I think sam loved dean like a brother, dean loved sam like a son, Dean's whole life was making sure sam was okay, he couldn't live without him because ever since he was young, his one task was to watch out for sam.

I think thats a misunderstanding of their relationship. People often confuse self-sacrifice with love. Dean expressed his love through protecting and sacrificing himself for Sam, but that doesn’t mean Sam loved him any less. Sam risked his life for Dean countless times, refused to give up on him, and completely fell apart every time he lost him. They just loved each other differently-not unequally. 🥹
