this is the biggest barrier to getting your wheelchair in the wheelchair compartment or in an overhead bin. what i always explain is the cabinet is labeled for wheelchairs. what usually happens is the first flight attendant i talk to is very rude about not wanting to move their things then either the pilot or a second flight attendant hears how rude the first person was and they run in and apologize and start moving all their bags out of the way. it's so annoying advocating every single time you fly. but this method has been working for me.
