Blue Collar, his first as director with Richard Pryor, Harvey Keitel and Yaphet Kyoto, a masterpiece about auto factory workers who rip off their corrupt union. Starts with men working factory machines to Muddy Waters’ “I’m a Man” with freeze frames where the music stops and you just heard the pounding of heavy machinery. Perfect set up for a brutal world of work.
