This is what my C section scar looks like 11 months PP. ✨❤️ I always get a lot of questions about doing an elective C section and what I would say is that you could ask 1000 women the same questions about birth and everyone would have a different answer because birth is so unique. We're made to feel that going 'natural' with no drugs is the best thing, and that if something goes wrong it's because we didn't do the right course or have the right mindset. Well, I went into my first birth excited for it and I'd done all the courses and my birth was not a positive experience. I wish they'd stop calling it that because it suggests women are to blame for not being prepped or tough enough. We hear a lot people saying that you only hear about 'negative' birth stories as if any woman would CHOOSE to not have a positive birth. We need to blame the system and not the women. And we need to show compassion for the trauma a bad birth can leave us with. For my second birth, I wanted to take back control and have an entirely new experience. So I had an elective C section. I don't feel like it robbed me of a natural birth. In fact it gave me the gift of having a positive and calm experience. However, I was worried about the scar. It sounds silly to say out loud. But I was. Well I needn't have worried because I love my scar. It tells the story of how Ada came into the world. The marks that form on our body are like a tapestry of our life. Just as our stretch marks mark growth, like mother nature's tattoos. How beautiful. ❤️✨ But I've also done everything I can to heal. My pelvic health physio @martadowner has done Lympha Touch on my scar, and I've also kept it really hydrated - I did another reel about the products I used. Almost a year later, this is my scar. I'm always very happy to answer any questions based on my own experience. ❤️❤️
